FAQs
1. What's the difference between advisory and standard accounting?
Standard accounting keeps you compliant: your accounts are filed, your tax is paid and your records are up to date. Advisory looks ahead. We help you plan, structure and make decisions that improve your position, whether that's reducing tax, preparing for investment or protecting your wealth for the future.
2. Do I need to be an existing client to use your advisory services?
No. Some clients come to us for a specific piece of advice, such as a restructure, an investment round or a big transaction. Others combine advisory with our ongoing accounting support. We'll shape the service around what you need.
3. What's the difference between EIS and SEIS?
Both schemes offer generous tax reliefs to people who invest in qualifying UK companies, which makes it easier for those companies to raise money. SEIS is for very early-stage start-ups raising smaller amounts. EIS is for companies that are a little further along and raising larger sums. We'll help you work out which fits, apply for advance assurance and guide your investors through claiming their relief.
4. Could my business qualify for R&D tax relief if we're not a tech company?
Quite possibly. R&D relief isn't only for labs and software developers. It can apply to any business that's trying to solve a scientific or technological challenge, including in manufacturing, engineering, food and more. We'll help you work out whether your projects qualify and make sure your claim is robust.
5. Is tax planning legal?
Yes. Good tax planning means using the reliefs, allowances and structures the law provides in the way they're intended. We never recommend aggressive schemes. Our advice is about making sure you don't pay more than you need to, while staying fully compliant and protecting your reputation.
