FAQs
1. Can I book a one-off consultation without becoming an ongoing client?
Yes. Whether you need a second opinion, have a single tax question or want to sense-check a big decision, we offer one-off consultations. If you later decide you'd like ongoing support, we can talk about that too, with no obligation.
2. I've received a letter from HMRC. What should I do?
Don't ignore it, and try not to panic. Most HMRC letters are routine requests for information. Some are the start of a compliance check or investigation, though, and it's important to respond correctly and on time. Send it over and we'll explain what it means, deal with HMRC on your behalf and help you reach the best outcome.
3. Do I need to pay tax on income from content creation or online selling?
Often, yes. Income from brand deals, sponsorships, ad revenue, gifted products and online selling platforms can all be taxable once you go beyond the £1,000 trading allowance. Online platforms now report sellers' income directly to HMRC. We'll help you work out what's taxable, what you can claim and how to report it.
4. I'm a landlord living overseas. How is my UK rental income taxed?
Under HMRC's Non-Resident Landlord Scheme, your letting agent or tenant normally has to deduct basic rate tax from your rent before paying you, unless HMRC has approved you to receive it in full. We can apply for approval on your behalf, file your UK tax returns and make sure you're not paying more than you should.
5. How do I close down my limited company?
There are a few routes, depending on whether the company has debts, assets or money left over. A simple strike-off can work for small, solvent companies. Companies with larger reserves may benefit from a formal liquidation, which can be more tax-efficient. We'll recommend the best route and handle the final accounts and filings.
